The first book of three, The Rape of Persephone, takes an in-depth look into the Greek myth of Persephone, known as Kore in the novel. It begins with her escape from her mother’s domineering presence and takes us to the consequences of her infatuation with her uncle, Hades. This account adds an original twist to the classic story. It also works with the assumption that the mythical gods and goddesses were humans upon which god-like qualities were bestowed.
This is a brilliantly written work. The descriptions, the style, and the depth of the characterizations are nothing short of amazing. Considering this is the first of three, the author intends to add her personal twist to the lives of Persephone, Demeter, Zeus, and Hades as only her imagination can. I have always been intrigued by the reshaping of stories, mythical or historical, and this novel delivered. Ms. Brillhart has produced an engaging story that turns the tale into a credible narrative. It also raises questions about the original myth. Was Persephone abducted, or did she leave of her own volition? Were Hades and Kore in love? Was it a union of convenience or manipulation by a more powerful god? Grab a copy of this book to discover the author’s intriguing version of events.
Sublime Line: “Ms. Brillhart’s exceptional skills deliver a unique and captivating take on a classic tale from Greek mythology.”
