Tom Helmer’s career as a sports broadcaster is already heading in a southerly direction, but things get decidedly worse when a woman’s dead body is discovered in his luggage. As the only suspect, he calls on an old friend, Tyson Chase, a retired Detroit police detective and private investigator, to help him find the murderer. The hardened PI and the sportscaster team up to track down a killer, taking their pursuit from small-town Texas to the Las Vegas strip.
Although the subject matter is grisly, Suicide Squeeze is an enjoyable read with snappy dialogue and entertaining predicaments. The author weaves in a past friendship to create relatable characters and a storyline that grabs the interest of the reader. It’s well-written, with action that moves the story at a fast pace, and it has just the right amount of seriousness and sentimentality, and an ending with an unexpected twist. Highly recommended for anyone who wants a fast, fun read and enjoys hard-boiled PIs.
Sublime Line: “An entertaining mix of mystery, humor, action, and intensity.”
