Ms. Kobayashi gives us another peek into the adventures of Sofia in this instalment of her own series as well as a sequel to Jane Austen’s beloved Pride and Prejudice. Set in 1826, Sofia is a young married woman who holds fond memories of her cousin Fitzwilliam Darcy, and calls upon him to help extricate her father, Colonel Fitzwilliam, from a difficult situation. The colonel, suffering from forgetfulness, inadvertently became a murder suspect in the death of a fox hunter. Sofia and Darcy, who is also suffering from a bout of melancholy, set out to rescue him.
This is another delightful foray into the life and times of Sofia, a woman who should become everyone’s favorite heroine. She’s adventurous, brave, beguiling, and capable of charming her way through the most challenging plights. Darcy’s characteristic brooding provides the perfect foil for Sofia, as do the comedic escapades of Colonel Fitzwilliam, and even the antics of the foxes. The author artfully crafts the perfect setting in the Yorkshire Wolds to deliver this humorous and oftentimes touching installment of Sofia’s escapades while she sets the stage for what is sure to be an exciting follow-up.
Sublime Line: “My Cousin Darcy is a five-star, exciting, and humorous sequel featuring our favorite heroine, Sofia.”
