Asesina, set in California and Mexico, introduces Angel as a drug cartel’s lethal hired assassin. One of her assignments is to eliminate Dr. Ernest Girard, a talented surgeon, but also a drug addict, gambler, and scammer. Her plans attract the attention of authorities on both sides of the border and bring her ever closer to danger.
This is an action-packed thriller, generously filled with high velocity scenes, mingled with the financial and legal dealings of multi-million-dollar insurance scams. The first portion of the novel appears to tell two unrelated stories until they later converge, and the different layers become intertwined. The reader may have difficulty deciding who to root for, since many of the characters have multi-faceted personalities that can inspire empathy for even the most detestable among them. A highly entertaining read for thriller lovers.
Sublime Line: “A high-octane thriller, combining insurance scams and drug cartels, chock-full of well-planned sequences, evasive actions, and near misses.”
