Why choose Sublime Book Review?

Finding the right reviews for the right budget can be hard for an Indie or self-published author. And in many cases, you unknowingly pay for a review that is 100% guaranteed positive. While it’s nice for a reviewer to tell you your book is “the greatest book ever written,” this doesn’t necessarily help you, the author, and it certainly doesn’t help the industry leaders (librarians, booksellers, media professionals) make calculated decisions about purchasing your book or requesting your title for their library.

Set in the exciting city of Los Angeles, the protagonist, Charlie Tobias, reluctantly sets aside his not-quite-there-yet career as an opera singer to work as a probate lawyer for a small law firm run by a man with a constant eye on billable hours. While probate lawyers necessarily deal with the dead, Charles expects tedium, not murder. However, murder is what he finds, at times very close to home.

The author has skillfully developed a main character who has strengths and weaknesses that anyone can identify with. Charlie has a quirky side, which provides entertainment value. The supporting cast is also made up of fully developed characters with their fair share of idiosyncrasies. While starting off slow with some of the technicalities of probate law and estate administrators, the plot picks up and weaves around a series of twists and turns in which Charlie is tested far more than he expected. This is a noir novel with an original plot and style that could appeal to someone looking for something different.

Sublime Line: “With a full cast of unique characters amid the backdrop of LA, this novel is an offbeat foray into the Noir genre.”
