Managed Care by Joe Barrett is the story of a man that refuses to leave a nursing home after he paid in advance for his grandfather, who has passed away. Thus follows a cast of unforgettable misfits and hilarious moments. The flow of the novel rotates between different character perspectives, which works really well. And the inappropriate acts that ensue are not overdone or far-fetched, they are just right. There is just enough adult language to cater to dark humor lovers, but not too much to create a niche audience. Anyone who loves good humor and well-written characters will fall in love with this book.
Sublime Line: “An absolutely sensational debut novel filled with dry humor, heartfelt moments, and exceptional characters.”
