There are many dramatic scenes involving Joseph Hawking, spelled out in a poetic manner and capturing the smaller, but still intense moments of peoples’ lives. When Hawking’s feelings of guilt and anger finally come to a boil, he forces himself into action, knowing that he can’t hide behind the curtain any longer. William West’s debut novel is an original one; the mix of the unexplainable and hints of romance carry the story along.
